Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Peers:
When I was working at Nordstrom Bistro, it was discouraging at first to be talked down by co-workers about your lack of skills starting out.
How I responded:
I knew that the more time I spent on a line or cooking station, the more experience I would gain. As long as you are patient and have a willingness to grow and improve, you can go far.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
During my second day on the job, I learned that my father was diagnosed with cancer. I place a strong value in family, so I took care of my father when needed. As I didn't have work on weekends, I strived to spend quality time with him.
Invest in yourself.
